How Mineral Dissemination Characteristics and Paragenetic Relationships Affect Flotation Performance
Mineral dissemination characteristics directly determine the design of crushing and grinding circuits.
Take gold ore as an example: if the gold mineral particle size distribution is uniform, single-stage grinding is generally sufficient to achieve mineral liberation; conversely, if the distribution is highly uneven, multi-stage grinding is required. An improper choice of grinding circuit will directly impair flotation performance.
Ores rarely consist of a single mineral species; most are associated with various other minerals. Copper ore, for instance, is frequently associated with valuable minerals such as gold, silver, lead, and zinc. Without targeted reagent schemes and appropriate process conditions during flotation, valuable elements may be lost or substandard concentrates produced, thereby degrading flotation performance and ultimately reducing the overall economic recovery from the ore.
